Is there a difference in cutting rods?
If you believe there is no difference in cutting rods, are you paying too much?
If you believe there is a difference in cutting rods, are you using the very best?

Magnum Mfg. leads the field in innovation. The best performing underwater cutting consumable just got better. We adopted a new tube to provide longer corrosion protection. The additional benefit to our surprise was a tube that cut longer and burned even better.

Eleven years in the making. Magnum is proud to Introduce the most advanced cutting tube currently on the market. Our new Galfan™ tubes are rated to 3000 salt hours. Imagine the benefits.

The new tubes are dipped in a hot Galfan™ material prior to being coated with an epoxy layer enriched with aluminum particles. The result? A tube that is not only corrosion proof, it also burns better and cuts longer than traditional cutting tubes.

Patent Pending

Our cutting tubes last longer in salt conditions than any cutting consumable on the market.

Corrosion free after 3000 salt water hours. The new tubes translate into longer cuts and prolonged shelf life.

Copper Clad Underwater Cutting Tubes

Technical Question: Are you an experienced burner? Can you spot what is wrong with the cutting picture below? See answer at the end of the page.

Cut through rust, scale, sea growth and more with our flame cutting tubes.

For eleven years divers and dive schools have been using and appreciating our underwater cutting tubes because of their reliability and excellent cutting performance. Each cutting tube is hand wrapped and undergoes quality inspection to ensure unrivaled dependability at any depth in both salt and freshwater settings. Cutting tubes ignite with a mere 150 amps and burn without additional voltage requirements. There is little cost justification in taking the time to suit up and burn bubbles without taking along reliable consumables.

Solid low carbon fuel spokes are crimped so that they conform to a radial configuration so as to maintain a carburetor hole in the center. The hole provides an additional oxygen thrust to efficiently remove magma from the cutting kerf. The outer tube and fuel are balanced for an even, reliable burn and efficient cut.
Carburetor throat allowing more cutting thrust.
The solid inner fuel is shorter than the outer tube by 2" so as to allow a recess at the torch end and thereby stop the burning once the fuel is completely combusted. This 2" safety stand-off eliminates burning back into the torch head for additional diver safety. Notice the circle crimp that holds the fuel in place. Once the burn passes the final crimp, the tube flame will stop. Crimps are important to performance. If too tight, the burn will flutter out. If too loose, side burns are inevitable.

Technical Answer: The rod is not seated against the washer causing the head to leak as indicated by the bubbles flowing from the torch head.
